THE
MODEL
The Assure Model can be defined a plan that aids teachers and presenters to design and develop the most suitable learning environment for their students. It can be used as a strategy for writing lesson plans and also improve the teaching learning process.
- Seven guidelines for Preparing a Lesson are:
- When preparing a lesson teacher should observe and analyze students and their learning styles eg. how student learn, is the student is a visual learner, tactile, etc
- Teacher should include an objective
- Teacher should have a selection of instructional methods, media and material readily available for students
- Teacher should utilize the media and materials
- Teacher should plan the lesson with engaging tasks and activities so as to encourage active participation from his/her students
- Effectively evaluate lesson- to have an impact on students learning
- Revise the lesson
2. The learning needs that the students in Ms Bent class have are:
- Students in Ms Bent's class are not intrinsically motivated
- Ms Bent do not engage students in tasks and activities
- The students in Ms. Bent class are techno- centric so the long lectures will not not interest them
- The students are visual learners and Ms. Bent do not cater to their needs
3. The error made in Ms Bent selection and use of software is that:
Ms Bent was not familiar with the software which she planned to use with her students. She did not preview the software package before using it in the class. Infact Ms. Bent was not prepared for that lesson and did not have a plan B thus she waisted valuable time with her students.
4. What we can learn from Ms Bent experience is to:
We can learn that we should always make the learning experience as interesting as possible and more technology based. We should evaluate our students and identify their learning styles as to enhance the learnng experience. Do not be like Ms. Bent, use softwares that we are more equipped with. Prepare the materials before hand and always have a plan B. We should also make the class as interactive as possible.
